Similes

I was learning  about similes.  I know that we describe using our senses and we compare two things using  like or as.  It was tricky because it was hard to think of things to compare.

Making a word plan

Reflection

I was learning to make a word plan. I know that a word plan has a topic and 3 or 4 ideas. I learnt that I can use a   word plan help me with my writing.

Blends

I am leaning about beginning blends in words. I learnt that cl and gr are two different sounds. sometime I find it tricky to write correctly because I have never written it before.

Handa's hen

My Reflection: we had to write a little story about the book called Handa's hen. I didn't do well on the writing I did well on the pictures The most challenging thing is to decide what to go next. My next step is to get better writing.

WALT: Use spelling patterns (-ing)

Caitlin says, "The next step for me might be to spell -ing words that are longer all by myself."
                      "I am proud that I can spell jumping and looking."

WALT: Use capital letters and full stops

 To celebrate Mothers' Day we used Tagul to make a note to our Mum's. 
Caitlin says, " I am so proud of remembering to use capital letters at the start of a sentence and full stops at the end."

WALT: Check our writing makes sense

In Writing this term we have been learning to:

• use capital letters and full stops
• check our writing makes sense
• write in detail (more than one idea/add interesting words-adjectives)
• write in sequence using words like first, next and after that

(We had to share something ABOUT ME, and write 2 sentences about something we like.)

Caitlin says, "In Room 30, we learn Reading, Story Writing and Handwriting."

My Shadow Writing.

We read a poem about shadows.  We wanted to make shadows in the sunshine but it rained and rained, so Mrs Kerr brought her lamp to school.  We made shadows on the whiteboard.  If we stood close to the lamp, our shadow was bigger and when we stood close to the whiteboard, our shadow was smaller.  We made a pattern using Kidpix and coloured it in with pastels.  Here is my picture and my story.

"I was a cat shadow with cat ears and I’m surprised!"

We read a poem about clouds.  We went outside and we looked into the sky to see the clouds.  Some of them were shapes we know.  We wrote about what we saw and Mrs Kerr helped us to publish our writing.

"I love my cloud picture and inside it are the words from my story.  It was fun looking at the clouds outside and I saw another cloud on the way home shaped like a little cat."
