Handa's hen

My Reflection: we had to write a little story about the book called Handa's hen. I didn't do well on the writing I did well on the pictures The most challenging thing is to decide what to go next. My next step is to get better writing.

WALT: Identify punctuation marks when reading

I find it tricky to remember to use a different voice when I see the speech marks. 

WAL: basic facts

I competed against Ayden, Rio and Jonathan on slide Maths. We have to slide the answers for each addition and subtraction fact onto the middle.

I won once but it was tricky because it goes so fast. The next step for me is to practise recalling my basic facts quickly.

WALT: Use a range of materials

I have used dye, collage and pen to create each leaf. 

WALT: Describe 3D shapes

We know that 3D shapes:

• are solids
• have edges
• have vertices
• have faces

Look at our 3D shapes coming to LIFE on QUIVER VISION!

Caitlin says, "I am proud that I can name 3D shapes. It can be tricky to remember how many edges and vertices they have."

WALT: Use the contents and index page to answer questions

The next step for me would be to understand and use a glossary.

WALT: Use spelling patterns (-ing)

Caitlin says, "The next step for me might be to spell -ing words that are longer all by myself."

Caitlin says, " I am proud because I know that there are 60 seconds in one minute."

WALT: Use the space around us

Room 30 have loved going to Youth Town. 

We had FUN, LISTENED and LEARNT some very fun skills like:

• following instructions
• team work
• finding/using space

WALT: Understand what is a digraph?

We have been learning about digraphs (2 letters that make one sound). We have used POPLET to show all the digraphs we found in our reading book 'Did you say fire?'.



Caitlin says, "I am learning to read digraphs. This will help me to robot words easily." 

WALT: Use capital letters and full stops

 To celebrate Mothers' Day we used Tagul to make a note to our Mum's. 
Caitlin says, " I am so proud of remembering to use capital letters at the start of a sentence and full stops at the end."

WALT: Check our writing makes sense

In Writing this term we have been learning to:

• use capital letters and full stops
• check our writing makes sense
• write in detail (more than one idea/add interesting words-adjectives)
• write in sequence using words like first, next and after that

(We had to share something ABOUT ME, and write 2 sentences about something we like.)

Caitlin says, "In Room 30, we learn Reading, Story Writing and Handwriting."

WALT: Retell a story

In reading, we have been learning how to retell a story. We have focused on key features like the characters and the events that take place and are now trying hard to sequence our ideas using key words like first, next and after that. 

IAL: How to read graphs and talk about them

(We have used the Statistics activities on Mathletics to practice what we have been learning.)

For our Maths Strand this term we have been learning all about Statistics.

We have collected different kinds of data and assembled this information onto the graphs.

The next time you visit our classroom check-out the different graphs we have made on the walls.

Caitlin says, "I think fewest means the least."

IALT: Get in and out of the pool safely

We have been learning how to get in and out of the pool using the ladders and the edge of the pool. We know how to use both hands to support us and to turn around before getting off the ladder.
